Helpline 2005 Starts on Wednesday 17th of August

The Helpline is an annual service that the National Parents Council post primary offers, in conjunction with the Irish Independent and Eircom.

The service is a valuable service for those who have concerns regarding the Leaving Certificate, calculating points, rechecks, CAO information and repeating examinations.

The Institute of Guidance Counsellors provide their professional services to staff the helpline. The counsellors are fully qualified and experienced.

The Department of Education and Science, the Irish Independent and Eircom sponsor the helpline.

The Helpline coincides with the publication of the Leaving Certificate results and CAO offers.

Helpline 2004 was a huge success. We received 3,000 calls from parents and students alike.

Using newly installed research software from SPSS we were able to identify the major issues of concern of those calling the service, trends in access to guidance counselling and the breakdown of callers.
