2019 LANGUAGE AURAL AT LEAVING CERT EXAMINATIONS
The NPCpp have been in contact with the SEC regarding issues experienced by some students during the language Aural examinations 2019. The SEC have assured us that they are fully aware of the issues and they will take steps to address any identified disadvantage to candidates through the marking process.
See their statement on the matter below:
“The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has received some complaints from candidates and parents regarding sound issues experienced in some of the 2019 aural examination. As is the case every year, the conduct of aural tests can present localised issues in individual examination centres.
Examination superintendents as part of their duties are required to report back to the SEC on issues concerning sound quality or interruptions to the conduct of the aural examinations whether arising from disc or equipment failure, acoustics in the centre, external noise or other sound quality issues. The SEC also receives reports from schools bringing such issues to its attention. As part of normal business, the SEC will follow up on these reports and take steps to address any identified disadvantage to candidates through the marking process.
These and any other complaints received will be brought to the attention of the Chief Examiner.”
